Toronto, ON (September 29, 2009)- The Capital One Rocks & Rings program recently partnered with Variety Village to provide an opportunity for visitors of the Canadian National Exhibition to try wheelchair curling.
As part of the “Celebrate the Olympic Spirit” pavilion, the attraction drew a whopping 8,100 participants, most of which tried wheelchair curling for the first time.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have been a part of reaching that many kids and exposing them to the sport”, said Chad McMullan, founder of the Capital One Rocks & Rings program.
“The CNE was a great venue to promote opportunities in sport for people of all abilities”, explained Archie Allison of Variety Village. “The equipment and support from Capital One Rocks & Rings was greatly appreciated. They provided lightweight curling stones so kids and adults could all play”.
Watch for wheelchair curling as one of the feature sports during the Paralympic Games, March 12 to 21 in Vancouver, BC.
